Mold Danger Linked to Your HVAC System and How to Best Avoid The Risk

Mold is a risk that every single homeowner is going to face, whether or not you have an HVAC system inside of your home. The risk of mold is always present; knowing and understanding that the risk exists can help you as a homeowner be aware of some of the preventative tactics that you can take to help avoid the risk in the first place. This is especially the case for those that do have an HVAC system. Your AC repair Jacksonville professionals at J&W Heating and Air know and understand the risk all too well and are always ready to assist.

We at J&W Heating and Air have seen time and time again how mold can take grasp of a home and do some real damage. Mold is a type of bacteria that can form from moisture, dirt, and other bacteria build-up. The thing with mold is that once it forms, it can spread in quite a rapid fashion. It is not uncommon for a home to be overtaken with mold in short after that initial formation of it has occurred. When you are a homeowner with an HVAC system, you want to be aware of what you can do to help best avoid the risk.

Keep the Filter Clean

One of the best things that you can do as a homeowner when it comes to fighting mold formation in your HVAC system is to make sure that you always have a clean filter. The filter is the link that your system has to bacteria and dirt build-up within it. When you have a quality, new air filter, it is going to be able to properly cycle through all of the dirt and such that the system is taking in through the air intake setup.

The goal should be for the filter to make sure that the bad bacteria and such is not going to be able to make its way through. When this happens, the risk of mold growth is greatly diminished because that initial bacteria is not going to be there in the first place to take hold.

Clean the Air Ducts Regularly

The other big problem area when it comes to your HVAC system and the risk of mold growth has to do with your air ducts. The air ducts of your central air conditioning system are what is going to be carrying all of the air that you enjoy from it. This means that this is where all of that dirt, bacteria, and moisture build-up can actually occur and take hold quickly.

What you can do is to have a professional AC repair Jacksonville technician like one on our team at J&W Heating and Air do an air duct cleaning as part of your regular maintenance schedule. It makes a whole lot of sense to ensure that your HVAC air ducts are cleaned regularly. When they are cleaned out you are going to ind the air quality of your home to be improved greatly and also the risk of mold growth to be reduced.

Mold is something that can easily take grasp in a home very quickly once the ingredients are there for its formation to occur. This includes things such as moisture build-up, bacteria, dirt, and all of that other bad stuff that can allow it to spawn. Once mold begins to form it can spread rapidly can cause major air quality issues inside of your home. There are steps you can take as a homeowner to fight this and we at J&W Heating and Air, our team of AC repair Jacksonville professionals, can help you every step of the way.

Just had an entirely new, full HVAC install done at our old house in Riverside, which was a fairly big job. Brian and... Will did the installation, and were awesome. There was going to be issues leveling the air handler in the attic, so they moved it to a new spot and hung it instead, getting new parts/changing the plan on the fly. We're much happier with this new setup and location of the air handler. I really appreciated this, their professionalism/thoroughness, and flexibility. Brian and Will worked super-hard, and double-checked everything once the job was done. Would use this company again.read more

Both men went above just installing my new unit, they were personable and knowledgeable in what they were doing. I was surprised when I found out these two hadn't been working that long together. A snake crawled into my outdoor condenser and stopped my 16 year old Trane last week on Thursday. The power surge took... out my blower unit circuit board and the motor. I called J&W and Rob was over within two hours of my call. I was spec'd a new York 17 seer system and it was up and running on Monday. Technicians Jason and Brian arrived promptly and every facet of the installation was thorough. When completed, I would not of even known they were there except they left my garage cleaner! Thanks J&W!read more
