What is Involved With the Installation of a Home Central Air Conditioning System?

As a homeowner living in the Jacksonville, FL area, the idea of home central air conditioning probably brings a smile to your face.  Think about the heat of those summer months.  July and August in the state of Florida can be ridiculously hot, making the home improvement of adding central air conditioning a great investment.  One of the hurdles with this home improvement though is not really knowing or having an understanding of what is involved.  Having home central air conditioning installed in your Jacksonville, FL home is a pretty big job.  The more that you know beforehand though the more you’ll be able to prepare you and your home for the upgrade it will bring.

The longer you live in the state of Florida, the more you are supposed to be able to stand the heat.  Every summer though it seems that things are just getting hotter and hotter.  It is either that the sun is heating up or we simply do not have the tolerance that we used to have to deal with it.  Those window air conditioners are a pain to put in for those summer months.  They can be loud, they are expensive from an energy standpoint and they simply do not get the job done as well as home central air conditioning can.  Let’s take a closer look at exactly what is involved with the installation of a home central air conditioning system.

Starting With the Right Equipment

The first step of any home central air conditioning system installation is selecting the unit.  The air conditioner that you have installed in your home has to be the proper size based on the square footage of your home; the actual area that it has to cool.  If you have a unit that is too large you could end up wasting money on a unit that you simply do not need.  Having a unit that is too small is going to end up costing you more to run the unit.  A smaller unit would have to work overtime to try and keep the home as cool as it should be.  In order to have your central air conditioning system keep the temperature of your home at a comfortable level, you need to have a correctly sized unit.

Do You Have Any Ducts?

Once you have the air conditioning unit all picked out, the next step is to have the ducts installed, if you even need them.  You need to think about how your home is currently heated.  If you have a forced hot air system, chances are your home is already full of ducts.  This makes the installation of home central air conditioning pretty easy.  All that really has to be done in this case is to have the air conditioning unit itself hooked up to the ducts and to an electric source.  Setting it up with an internal temperature control will allow you to be up and running in no time.

Say your home does not have ducts, though.  What are you to do at this point?  If you do not have ducts, a professional home air conditioning installer is going to be able to help you figure out where the ducts need to placed and to have them installed. If you have a basement or an attic, these make for great locations to have the ducts run and have outputs that allow the air to flow freely throughout your home.

Proper Placement of Where the Air Will Flow

It is vital for a professional to help you decide where you want the air to flow out from the air conditioning.  You want to have vents at certain places in your home so that you can experience the cool air where it is needed most.  Having one that sits directly above your bed, for example, may not be the best idea from a comfort perspective.  You’ll need to have them help you assess just how many vents you are going to need and where they should be located.  Having them evenly dispersed throughout your home can allow you to really be able to experience the true comfort central air can provide.

Home central air conditioning installations are not the most complex projects.  They certainly do require the work and knowledge of a professional though.  The next time you are enduring a hot summer in the Jacksonville, FL area, think about the cool comfort central air conditioning could provide for you and your family.

Just had an entirely new, full HVAC install done at our old house in Riverside, which was a fairly big job. Brian and... Will did the installation, and were awesome. There was going to be issues leveling the air handler in the attic, so they moved it to a new spot and hung it instead, getting new parts/changing the plan on the fly. We're much happier with this new setup and location of the air handler. I really appreciated this, their professionalism/thoroughness, and flexibility. Brian and Will worked super-hard, and double-checked everything once the job was done. Would use this company again.read more

A snake crawled into my outdoor condenser and stopped my 16 year old Trane last week on Thursday. The power surge took... out my blower unit circuit board and the motor. I called J&W and Rob was over within two hours of my call. I was spec'd a new York 17 seer system and it was up and running on Monday. Technicians Jason and Brian arrived promptly and every facet of the installation was thorough. When completed, I would not of even known they were there except they left my garage cleaner! Thanks J&W!read more
