Finding the Perfect Size for Your Home’s New HVAC System - J&W Heating and Air

Finding the Perfect Size for Your Home’s New HVAC System

Many homeowners are quick to make the decision that they simply need a new HVAC system for their home. They want the home to be as cool and as comfortable as possible. Once this decision is made, the next step is to figure out the proper size of the system. You want to really nail the size of your system for a few big reasons. If you go with a size for an HVAC Nocatee FL that is too big, the system is not going to efficiently cool the living space and just waste energy, cycling on and off too quickly. A unit that is too small will constantly run and also waste energy and never get your home to the desired temperature. Sizing is extremely important when you are talking about an HVAC Nocatee FL system.

We at J&W Heating and Air understand the importance of prefect sizing of your home’s new HVAC system. We want to walk you through the process step by step of understanding how to size the system, what the needs are of your home to be able to keep it cool and comfortable, and so on. It all comes down to square footage as well as the area of the country that you live in. The combination of these two will help you, along with us, quickly and pretty easily figure out what size of an HVAC Nocatee FL that you need.

Climate Zones

When you are trying to figure out the perfect size for your home’s new HVAC Nocatee FL system, you want to first and foremost think about the climate zones. Climate zones have been laid out across the country where if you live in one area, you are recommended to get an HVAC Nocatee FL system of a certain size, versus if you lived in another area of the country.

There are five zones that the country has been split up in by the U.S. government agencies to detail out energy efficiency guidelines and what you need for an HVAC Nocatee FL system. Zone 5 is for those locations in the United States where you are the very most North, think about places like Washington, Maine, and Montana. Zone 4 is going to be a bit lower in areas such as Massachusetts. Then you get to Zone 2 and Zone 3, which are more in the middle of the country. Zone 1 is where you are in the south, and this is where Florida falls.

Zone 1 is where you need to have the biggest system because that is where you are going to get the most heat and humidity year-round.

Square Footage to Tons

A central air conditioning HVAC Nocatee FL system is going to be measured in terms of tons against the square footage of your house. A home that is 600 to 900 square feet, for example, is going to require a unit that is 1.5 tons in size. A 901-1,200 square foot home will require a 2 ton system. This goes all of the way up to a home that is 3,000 square feet, requiring a 5 ton system.

The tons measurement has nothing to do with the weight of the system. Instead it is a measurement of the amount of air that can be cooled over a set period of time. The more tonnage you have with your HVAC Nocatee FL system, the more air it will be able to cool in your home.

Sizing up your system based on the climate zones and the square footage of your home allows anyone to get a basic idea of what size of a system you need. Work with our team of professionals at J&W Heating and Air to refine this measurement to get that perfect size for your new HVAC Nocatee FL system.

Just had an entirely new, full HVAC install done at our old house in Riverside, which was a fairly big job. Brian and... Will did the installation, and were awesome. There was going to be issues leveling the air handler in the attic, so they moved it to a new spot and hung it instead, getting new parts/changing the plan on the fly. We're much happier with this new setup and location of the air handler. I really appreciated this, their professionalism/thoroughness, and flexibility. Brian and Will worked super-hard, and double-checked everything once the job was done. Would use this company again.read more

Both men went above just installing my new unit, they were personable and knowledgeable in what they were doing. I was surprised when I found out these two hadn't been working that long together. A snake crawled into my outdoor condenser and stopped my 16 year old Trane last week on Thursday. The power surge took... out my blower unit circuit board and the motor. I called J&W and Rob was over within two hours of my call. I was spec'd a new York 17 seer system and it was up and running on Monday. Technicians Jason and Brian arrived promptly and every facet of the installation was thorough. When completed, I would not of even known they were there except they left my garage cleaner! Thanks J&W!read more
